Battens and laths are made from planed conifer wood. They are lightweight, flexible, and durable. Battens are used for structural applications. If compared with other types of softwood, the structural lumber made with northern conifer can support moderate weight.
Laths are also used to make wooden wall supports and wooden ceilings, and can be used for furniture. Northern conifer is an environmentally friendly material. Battens and Laths are packed in plastic film in bundles of 10 or 4 pieces for ease of transportation.

The wood for the structure is made from Picea Abies, called Norway Spruce, which is lighter than Pinus Sylvestris, called Scotch Pine, and resistant to mold. This is very important when making timber structures. Please note that we do not use a standardized measurement system.
To measure the lumber, our 1.5” x 3” is approximately 2” x 4” in the American system. Our 1” thickness is 23mm (not 17 or 19mm). Please refer to the millimeters of the lumber to adjust the measurements accordingly, or contact our friendly staff for assistance.

Most of our timber comes in lengths of 6 meters and various cross-sectional sizes. All sizes can be found in the category, “Conifer Planks." 6 meters is the standard length for northern conifer materials because conifer trees are cut into logs of 6 meter lengths.
