Wood protection and treatment (MCA/CCA)
Even though our wood has been expertly kiln-dried, some customers want wood to be protected using chemicals. For example, in case of wood that is placed next to the ground in an area with termites, wood must be treated. We offer treatments of Micronized Copper Azole (MCA) or Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA).
SAK WoodWorks provides MCA/CCA compressing services in tanks using the VPV method (Vacuum-Pressure-Vacuum), compressing according to various standards such as NWPC, AWPA, NZS 3640, and GOST 20022, depending on the level of treatment our customers need.
In compressing the solution, we use chemicals produced by Koppers. The manufacturer guarantees the product. We recommend using Koppers MicroShades (MCA). Wood treated with this solution will turn slightly brown. Another solution we use is Koppers MicroPro, which colors the wood a shade of green.
The VPV liquid compression process
The VPV liquid compression process has the following steps:
1. Soak the wood in a compressed water tank.
2. Expel all air inside the wood's cells using a vacuum system.
3. Release the solution into the tank.
4. Use pressure to allow the solution to penetrate throughout every cell of the wood.
5. Reduce the pressure and release the solution from the tank. Meanwhile, vacuum again to dry the wood.
6. The liquid remaining on the surface of the wood will enter the wood when the pressure returns to normal.
7. Let the wood air-dry naturally.
